In this tutorial, you'll learn what the free trial for schools includes, what happens when it ends, how to switch to the Free plan, and what the careful zone does: handing the school over, downloading its data, and deleting it. Let's begin.

Every new school starts with a free thirty-day trial, with no card and no payment. The banner at the top of every school page shows how many days are left and the exact date the trial ends.

When the trial ends, nothing is deleted and nobody is locked out. The school simply continues on the Free plan, with smaller limits on how many people and classes it can have.

Your plan lives in the Settings tab.

The plan card shows the plan you are on and the days left in the trial.

You do not have to wait for the trial to end. Switch to the Free plan now ends the trial immediately and moves the school to the Free plan.

It asks you to confirm. We keep our trial, so we click Cancel.

At the bottom of Settings is the Careful zone: three actions that change who owns the school, or remove it.

Hand the school to someone else makes another person the owner, for example when a principal leaves. That person must already be a School Admin, so invite them as an admin first, the way the invitation guide shows.

Cancel for now.

Download your school's data emails you a link to a copy of everything your school holds: people, classes, assignments and results. Useful for your records, or before you delete the school.

Delete this school removes the school for everyone: teachers lose the school classes, and managed students lose their school login. To protect you from a slip, you must type the school name to confirm.

Type the name exactly as it is written.

The red button is now active. If you click it, the school is deleted, but as the dialog says, you can bring it back for ninety more days. After that it is gone for good.

We are not deleting our school today, so we click Cancel.
