In this tutorial, you'll learn how to run classes and assignments for your school on Meta Typing Club, step by step: create a class, choose its teacher, put students in it, and set the first assignment. Let's begin.

From your school dashboard, open the Classes tab. Every class in your school is listed here, whoever teaches it.

Click New Class.

Give the class a name students and teachers will recognise. The name is the only required field.

A short description helps everyone see what the class is for.

Add the grade level.

The subject.

And the academic year, so you can tell this year's classes from last year's.

Choose the practice language. Students whose practice language matches can be added to this class.

Click Create Class.

The class appears as a card with its own class code, the number of students, and three buttons: Manage, Homework, and Teachers. It says No teacher yet, so let us fix that first.

Click Teachers.

Tick everyone who teaches this class. The list shows the teachers who accepted your invitation. If you tick more than one, choose the main teacher, the one students see.

Click Save Changes. The teacher's name now shows on the class card, and the class appears on their own teacher dashboard.

Now the students. Click Manage.

The class has no students yet. Click Add Students.

Every student of your school who is not in this class yet is listed. Tick the ones who belong here.

You can tick as many as you like.

If someone is missing, Create New Student makes a new account right here.

Click Add Selected.

The students are enrolled at once. No email, no class code needed. The small button next to a name removes a student from the class, without deleting the account.

Close the roster.

Time for the first assignment. Click Homework on the class card. It opens the Assignments tab, already filtered to this class.

Click Create assignment.

Give the assignment a title.

And a short description students will see.

Assign it to the entire class, or to individual students. Tick the class that gets this work; you can tick more than one to give them the same assignment.

Set a due date if you like.

Lesson Language is the typing language of the lessons: English here, or any of the other international languages.

Then pick the lessons. They are grouped the same way as the course: Home Keys, Home Row, Top Row, and so on. Expand a group to see every lesson in it.

Tick a whole group, or single lessons. We give the class the whole Home Keys group.

Click Create Assignment.

The assignment is live: the due date, how much of the class has completed it, and the School label, so teachers know it came from the school. Teachers can add their own assignments the same way.

That is how you run classes and assignments. In the next guide, you will read school reports and adjust your settings. Find more guides in our FAQ, Help Center, and Learning Center. English typing, at Meta Typing Club dot com.
